Arsenic, antimony and bismuth

OBTAINING AND ISOLATION OF ARSENIC, ANTIMONY AND BISMUTH

OCURRENCE OF ARSENIC, ANTIMONY AND BISMUTH

Although the three elements are widely distributed in the earth’s crust in a variety of minerals and they are also found in the native form, they show comparatively lower abundance. Arsenic is the most abundant of the three elements with a concentration of about 2 ppm in Earth’s crust, which is a lower value if we compare with its congener phosphorus with which it is present in the order of 700 ppm. However the other two elements are even less abundant, and antimony is about one-tenth of the abundance of arsenic whereas bismuth is one of the least abundant elements, with a content in the Earth’s Crust of about 0,008 ppm
